This morning I came back into the office after a day's leave
and found that my bin had been removed. Apparently we now have some sort of zero waste initiative in the office. So I have a tiny desktop box about the size of a tissue box for my rubbish. Or at least I will when they send me one. Right now I just have no bin at all and have to disrupt what I'm doing for 3 minutes to walk into the next office for all the crap junk mail I'm sent each day twice a day. Then I have to remove any plastic packaging and put that in a different bin. What a waste of time. This looks like the bastard brainchild of a career politician who only has sheets of A4 paper to give to their PA for shredding. As if this wasn't enough, the global demand for recycled materials has gone through the floor and it is being stockpiled.
I didn't vote for this. Just like I didn't vote for speed cameras or the increasing power of the HSE or the Audit Office or screwing up the Education system to produce the lowest numeracy and literacy levels in over a decade.
I don't trust politicians at all, so I don't trust our political system or our version of democracy. Trouble is, I'm not sure what a suitable alternative is.
